Quick-Start Guide
Check out the Quick-Start Guide located on the DVD for information on prerequisites, installation and places to find additional information and assistance for the ArcGIS products. The hardcopy version of the Quick-Start is included in the product media kit.

Windows Users: For detailed installation instructions, open the /windows/Install.htm file in your browser. 

UNIX Users: For detailed installation instructions, refer to the "install.pdf" files located in the installation media platform directories.

INSTALLING ARCINFO WORKSTATION 9.3

1) Windows Installation

Browse to the "windows" directory on the installation media and run "setup.exe".


2) Sun Solaris Installation

Execute these commands:

cd your_desired_install_location
/your_dvd_mount_point/solaris/install -load 

When prompted for the "CD-ROM mount point", enter: /your_dvd_mount_point/solaris


3) IBM AIX Installation

Execute these commands:

cd your_desired_install_location
/your_dvd_mount_point/aix/install -load 

When prompted for the "CD-ROM mount point", enter: /your_dvd_mount_point/aix


4) HP HP-UX Installation

Execute these commands:

cd your_desired_install_location
/your_dvd_mount_point/hpux/install -load 

When prompted for the "CD-ROM mount point", enter: /your_dvd_mount_point/hpux


5) ArcDOC Installation on UNIX

Execute this command:

cd your_desired_install_location

Execute the command from the following list that corresponds to your platform: 
/your_dvd_mount_point/arcdoc/install.hp -load 
/your_dvd_mount_point/arcdoc/install.ibm -load 
/your_dvd_mount_point/arcdoc/install.solaris2 -load 

When prompted for the "CD-ROM mount point", enter: /your_dvd_mount_point/arcdoc

ArcGIS Pre 9.3 GDB Direct Connect

Direct Connect drivers which allow an ArcGIS 9.3 client to connect to a 9.0, 9.1 or 9.2 SDE geodatabase.

Windows: setup found in: \GDBDirectConnect\Setup.exe
UNIX: setup found in: GDBDirectConnect_unix/Setup


ArcGIS 9 Uninstall Utility (Windows Only)

The setup, "93ConflictDetector.exe", is found at the root folder of the installation media.  

This utility will assist you in locating and removing previously installed and conflicting ArcGIS products, in preparation for the installation of ArcGIS 9.3.  

Description:
This utility will locate and automatically remove ArcGIS 9.x products that are installed on your machine. Uninstalling these products is required to install ArcGIS 9.3. 

System Requirements: 
Platform: PC-Intel 
ArcGIS Software: ArcGIS 9.0, 9.1, or 9.2 products (excluding Beta releases) 

How to use the Uninstall Utility
 	Launch the utility by running 93ConflictDetector.exe 
 	Conflicting products will be displayed. 
 	Click uninstall to remove all products displayed. 
 	After the conflicting products have been removed, click exit to dismiss the utility. 
 	ArcGIS 9.3 products can now be installed. 
Logs of the uninstall process for each product can be found at C:\documents and settings\\My Documents folder. 

Known Issues 
 - The uninstall utility will not locate and remove third party extensions or plug-ins. You should manually uninstall these products (using the Operating System Add/Remove) before removing your ArcGIS products. 
 - Beta releases are not detected. 
 - Product versions prior to 9.X are not detected. 
 - 93ConflictDetector.exe and 93ConflictDetector.txt must exist in the same location for the utility to function properly. 
 - The contents of 93ConflictDetector.txt should not be changed.
