Installation

ArcIMS for UNIX

Note: Linux and Sun Solaris automatically mount your CD drive. If you need to mount the CD drive, log in as root, then use the command line appropriate to your host UNIX system as follows, where ‹dev› is the name of your CD-ROM device:

HP HP-UX (PA_RISC), mount -F cdfs /‹dev›/cdrom
IBM RS/6000 AIX, mount -v 'cdrfs' -r'' -p'' /dev/cd0/cdrom (or use smit)

Note for IBM: -p'' and -'' is a dash, the letter p or r, and two single quotes. If you use a double quote after the -p or -r, it will fail.

  1. Verify that your system meets the system requirements. See the install guide on your individual platform CD for details (install.htm).
  2. Make user the system account installing the ArcIMS software has write permissions to the target install directory.

  4. Enter the following command: SetupArcIMS
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen. For detailed installation instructions, see the install.htm file on the CD for your platform.
