All previous version of ArcGIS software must be uninstalled before installing 9.2. This does not, however, including the ArcGIS License Manager as your existing ArcGIS License Manager and licenses will continue to work at 9.2
1. License file
Your existing ArcGIS Desktop 9.0/9.1 keycodes will continue to work with ArcGIS 9.2. There is no need to get new keycodes unless you choose to change your existing license options.
2. Set Up the License Manager
• Save the license file you received from Customer Service to the license
server as license.dat.
• Open license.dat in a text editor, such as VI, and verify that the host
name is correct on the SERVER line.
• Copy the license.dat file to the 9.x $ARCHOME/sysgen directory.
• Start the License Manager by running lmgrd from the License Manager
install location.
Note: You will need to log in with administrator privileges to start the License
Manager.
• Verify that the License Manager has started by using this command: %
./lmutil lmstat-a-c license.dat
• For more information, refer to the License Manager Reference Guide under
the Documentation folder in the ArcInfo Workstation installation media.
3. Install ArcInfo Workstation
• Installation is dependent on the UNIX platform. Refer to the specific install_guide.pdf document found on your ArcInfo Workstation installation media.
