Workshop: Performance Tuning for Multi-Core Architectures

Details: This two-day course demonstrates several techniques for improving the performance of applications on multi-core systems, such as OSC's Glenn Opteron cluster. These techniques involve taking advantage of features common to most modern microprocessors, including multi-level caches and multiple pipelined functional units, as well as parallelism within and across nodes.

Details: SI is a two-week residential program that gives gifted Ohio high school freshmen and sophomores project-based, hands-on learning.  Working in small peer teams, the students use supercomputers for practical applications such as solving complex science and engineering problems, conducting network forensics to catch hackers, studying the spread of the bird flu and designing computer games.

HPCMP Users Group Conference 2008

Details: The High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) was initiated in 1992 in response to congressional direction to modernize the Department of Defense (DoD) laboratories' high performance computing (HPC) capabilities. The HPCMP was assembled out of a collection of small high performance computing departments, each with a rich history of supercomputing experience that had independently evolved within the Army, Air Force, and Navy laboratories and test centers.

YWSI helps girls develop an interest in these subjects by allowing them to work on a practical, interesting scientific problem using the latest computer technology.
