| Bill provides supercomputer access to small businessesThe Columbus Dispatch Columbus, OH -- June 25, 2006 -- Small businesses in Ohio and elsewhere would have greater access to so-called supercomputers under legislation introduced last week by Sen. Mike DeWine, R-Ohio. DeWine's bill would authorize spending up to $25 million a year for five years in federal funding designed to help supercomputer centers find ways to help small businesses do their work more efficiently. The money would come in the form of grants that could be used to build new supercomputer centers or expand existing ones like the Ohio Supercomputer Center near the Ohio State University campus, which is run by a consortium of Ohio universities. "Our objective is to promote the use of the most advanced tools to assist small- and medium-sized companies, so that they are competitive," said Stanley Ahalt, executive director of the Ohio center. |
