Nanotechnology

Nanotechnology imageNanotechnology is any technology related to features of nanometer scale (smaller than 100 nanometers): thin films, fine particles, chemical synthesis, advanced microlithography, etc. The term was coined by K. Eric Drexler in his book "Engines of Creation."

Nanotechnology is a frontier science where disciplines of physics, chemistry, materials, structural mechanics, engineering and biology converge in a world of new phenomena. Ranging from quantum dots to DNA computers, nanotechnology entails many new mysteries of science awaiting explanation and translation to useful new products and capabilities.

Nanotechnology efforts have been around for years or are just in their infancy depending on an individual viewpoint. Expertise ranges as broadly, with experts established Ohio-wide in the broad spectrum of scientific, research, simulation and commercialization capabilities.
