Ohio Valley Internet2 ConsortiumOhio Valley Internet2 Consortium CharterThe Ohio Valley Internet2 Consortium (OVI2C) is charged with providing direction to OARnet regarding Internet2 issues, including, but not limited to, sponsorship of other entities for participation in Internet2, OARnet's Internet2 fees for members and sponsored entities, and other issues related to participation in Internet2. The OSTEER representative from each of the Ohio Valley Internet2 Consortium member institutions (those institutions with both active UCAID and Abilene memberships) will appoint one voting member, although each institution may have more than one member on the Consortium. There is no term of office for the voting member. Given the policy-making activities that take place in this consortium it is important all Regular Member institutions share in the leadership of the OVI2C. The Vice-Chair position will rotate alphabetically through OVI2C Internet2 Regular Member Institutions. After two years the Vice Chair will automatically succeed the Chair and a new Vice Chair will rote in to the position as indicated in the chart below.
Meeting minutes are recorded by OARnet staff for the Ohio Valley Internet2 Consortium. A quorum is defined as a majority of the Ohio Valley Internet2 Consortium members. In making decisions, including election of officers, a simple majority of votes cast will affirm a result. The Consortium, via its Chair, will provide direction regarding Internet2 activities in Ohio to the Director of OARnet and the OARnet Internet2 Manager. The Consortium will meet four times per year. However, meetings may be cancelled or additional meetings scheduled if a majority of the Consortium voting members agree to do so.
