OARtechOARtech is a technical advisory committee which is a liaison between the State of Ohio internetwork service provider, OSC Networking, and the provost level steering committee, OSTEER. OARtech was formed to help bridge the high level input from OSTEER with pragmatic advise and experience from in-house technology staff of the member institutions. Typically, OARtech participants are drawn from their institutions at the information technology management level. OSC Networking is Ohio's internetwork service provider, serving higher education, K-12 schools, government and commercial business. By charter, OARtech is focused on assuring that OSC Networking addresses the needs of higher education members. OARtech provides a mechanism for assuring that educational use of the state's facilities is not over shadowed by commercial patrons of the system. All segments of OSC Networking's client base, educational and commercial, are strongly urged to attend the bi-monthly meetings. Exchange of ideas between all patrons of the network assures recommendations to OSC Networking achieve the broadest access and best network performance. To ensure that the plans, programs, and activities of OSC Networking are consistent with the mission of the member organizations in Ohio, the OSC Networking Technical Committee (OARtech) advocates new technologies and communicates technical information, recommendations, and plans of action to member institutions.
