The OSCnet is the most advanced statewide fiber-optic network for education, research, and economic development. It provides dedicated high-speed broadband networking to Ohio's education, research, and manufacturing communities and connection to Internet2, a national high performance backbone network. OSCnet has transformed teaching, learning, scientific research, and networking technologies development. Ohio led the nation with the first high-speed connect among all colleges and universities when it hosted a lighting ceremony with the Ohio Board of Regents on November 30, 2004. On February 27, Toledo and Scioto Valley Local Schools were the first K-12 systems in Ohio and the nation to be connected to the OSCnet.
