Kathryn L. Kelley
Kathryn L. Kelley, senior director of outreach at the Ohio Supercomputer Center, oversees external and internal communications, media relations and creative services.
Under Kelley’s direction, the Center significantly increased national and statewide publicity for major OSC projects including Blue Collar Computing, OSCnet and the Ralph Regula School of Computational Science.
Additionally, Kelley served as the communications chair for the international SC07 conference, a role she also held in 2005. She organized publicity and outreach for the conference that attracts more than 9,000 high performance computing and networking attendees each year.
Kelley also has served as co-director of the Center’s Young Women’s Summer Institute, a week-long program that develops middle-school girls’ interest in computer, math and science skills and encourages them to purse careers in science and technology.
Prior to joining OSC, Kelley was the program coordinator for the city of Columbus Mayor’s Office. In this role, she promoted and organized the city’s technology initiatives, such as the Task Force on Technology and the Future of the City.
She obtained a bachelor’s in English and a master’s degree in rhetoric and communication studies from the University of Virginia. Kelly also finished graduate level work for obtaining a doctorate in communications from The Ohio State University.
