August 01, 2008 - September 01, 2008

DESCRIPTION:
The OSC Pentium 4 Cluster (http://www.osc.edu/supercomputing/hardware/index.shtml#beo ) will be removed from service on September 1, 2008. Data stored in user's home directories will remain available from other OSC systems and is not impacted by this change. Users are advised to begin migrating their applications to Glenn, the IBM 1350 Linux cluster before September 1.

The schedule for removing this system from service is as follows. On August 1, 2008, all but 64 nodes (128 processors) will be powered off. These 128 processors will remain running until September 1, 2008 at which the entire system will be taken offline.

The IBM 1350 cluster has been available for general use since December, 2008. For details regarding hardware, instructions on how to access and use the new cluster system, please see

The new cluster is a significant increase in capacity compared to the Itanium and Pentium 4 clusters. If you have any questions regarding this change, please contact OSChelp.
