AVS / Express
Description
This workshop will
introduce the powerful AVS / Express software package for data visualization.
AVS / Express is an object-oriented, hierarchical and extensible tool for
visualizing and interacting with complex data sets. It can be used to produce
three-dimensional images of surfaces and volumes and supports a very wide
variety of visualization techniques, such as the creation of isosurfaces,
slice planes, probe geometries, and so on.
A limited number of
licenses for AVS / Express is available, at no cost to OSC users, through the
OSC Statewide Software Licensing Program for Intel/Windows and many flavors of
Unix, including Linux. The course will feature an extensive hands-on
component, and you are encouraged to bring your own data for
visualization.
Topics to be covered
include: AVS / Express architecture
- The AVS/Express data
model
- Importing your data into AVS /
Express
- Data viewers
- Application and project
management
- Visualization
techniques
- Making animations
- Overview of advanced
features
