How HPC has Changed Industry
Irene Qualters, Vice President, Research Information Services at Merck & Co, Inc.
HPC has really changed drug design in a couple of ways. The first way is to date it’s allowed us to mix other technologies such as high throughput screening and use our molecular modeling to target where the screening would be most effective, and that’s what’s happened to date.
I think the opportunity is much greater for the future and it really is to get a fundamental understanding of the biological systems in a predictive way, so that when we start we have a much better idea if something will be safe and if it will be effective.
