OCDE 2004 Conference -- Call for Proposals

The Ohio Commons for Digital Education partners - Ohio Learning Network, OhioLINK, and the Ohio Supercomputer Center - are seeking proposals for the Convergence of Libraries, Learning and Technology Conference, March 7- 9, 2004 in Columbus. OCDE 2004 will feature both submitted and invited papers, technical sessions, pre-conference workshops, and plenary presentations.

Network Access to CAMM's Electron Microscopes Offers Shared Instrumentation Benefits to Education, Industry

COLUMBUS, Ohio – December 1, 2006 – A set of the world’s most powerful electron microscopes can now be accessed remotely by researchers and commercial industries over the Internet, thanks to collaborations between the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) and The Ohio State University’s Center for Accelerated Maturation of Materials (CAMM). 

Third Frontier Network is now "OSCnet"

OSC would like to announce that the name of the Third Frontier Network is being changed to OSCnet. This name is the result of a series of meetings with legislators, academic partners, and state leadership.  Virtually all of those participating in the discussions noted that it was time to clearly associate the network with OSC so as to minimize confusion for OSCnet users and those who provide funding for the network, including the higher education partners that were central to the inception and implementation of the network.

Middle school students in Appalachian Ohio immerse themselves into a society on a virtual island they visit over the state-of-the-art network, moving about, walking, running and even flying through highly developed landscapes, park-like settings and buildings.
