Columbus, Ohio -- September 15, 1997 -- James Estep and Christopher Lewis, both computer science majors at Shawnee State University, put their knowledge of computers to the test this summer. The Portsmouth residents spent eight weeks at the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) in Columbus learning about high performance networking.
"The experience we had this summer is definitely something we would not be able to learn in the classroom," Estep said. "I learned valuable organization and research skills, and a lot about advanced technologies."
Columbus, Ohio -- June 14, 1999 -- Ohio is in good hands if State Science Day resembles any indication of the future.
Joseph M. Kessler, a junior at Carroll High School, received the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) Award for his exceptional project entered at State Science Day 1999. Kessler was one of three students chosen for this prestigious award.
Columbus, Ohio (February 8, 2011) - Two surgeons from Central Ohio recently traveled to Nicaragua on a humanitarian mission to treat children with serious ear, nose and throat conditions. However, this year they brought along some help in the form of high-tech equipment designed to appeal to a generation that grew up playing video games – not to entertain the children, but to train the local doctors and medical students.
Columbus, Ohio — July 6, 2009 -- The Ohio Supercomputer Center today announced the names of 15 elementary and middle school girls from six Ohio counties competitively chosen to attend the 2009 Young Women’s Summer Institute.
Columbus, Ohio – The National Science Foundation last week designated nearly $1 million to provide Ohio’s workforce with crucial training in computational modeling and simulation.
Columbus, OH -- July 28, 1995 - Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the Midwest Universities Consortium for International Activities (MUCIA) announce their upcoming seminar entitled "U.S. Education Into the Twenty-First Century." Columbus, OH – October 9, 2006 – Learn the latest about some of the most robust engineering software packages available at the Ohio Supercomputer Center's (OSC) workshop, Using Altair HyperMesh and Hyperview.
This three day session will be held on October 16 – 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m, in OSC’s BALE theater at no charge. Geared toward engineers, the workshop will cover Altair HyperWorks’ high performance, comprehensive toolbox of CAE software for engineering design and simulation. Attendees should have a basic knowledge of finite element analysis.
OSC has designed one of two new online training courses offered by the National Computational Science Alliance (NCSA) Partners for Advanced Computational Services (PACS). These parallel programming courses are designed for the high performance computing (HPC) user community. The Multilevel Parallel Programming Course was primarily created by the Science and Technology Support (STS) group at OSC (Ohio Supercomputer Center), lead by Leslie Southern.
Columbus, Ohio – Feb. 17, 2009 – Twenty years of toiling on high performance computing initiatives and in software engineering hasn’t dampened the enthusiasm for a career working in math and science for Leslie Southern at the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC).
