Ohio Middle-School Girls Discover Math and Science at YWSI2004

COLUMBUS, Ohio--August 7, 2004-- Eighteen of Ohio’s brightest middle school girls jump-started their careers in math and science at The Young Women’s Summer Institute, (YWSI) hosted by Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) August 1-7.

The weeklong program engaged girls in a unique scientific problem while teaching them computer skills. In its fifth year, YWSI served as a great introduction to the fields of science, math, and computing.

Ohio Supercomputer Center's summer institute for middle-school girls marks 9th year

Columbus – July 1, 2008 – The Ohio Supercomputer Center announced the 2008 class of gifted middle school students who will participate in the Young Women's Summer Institute, a weeklong summer program that supports the state's efforts in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) by teaching skills and encouraging careers in these areas.

Gifted students selected to study computing and technology at Ohio Supercomputer Center's 20th annual Summer Institute

Columbus, Ohio – June 20, 2008 – The Ohio Supercomputer Center has selected 20 Ohio high school students for its 20th annual Summer Institute (SI), to be held July 6-19, 2008, on the campus of The Ohio State University.

During the two-week residential program, these gifted high school freshmen and sophomores will gain hands-on experience with some of the nation’s most sophisticated computer technologies.

Supercomputing Students Attend OSU Summer Institute at Ohio Supercomputer Center

Columbus, Ohio -- July 26, 1994 -- As a part of The Ohio State University Summer Institute at the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) from July 11-22, fifteen Ohio high school students and two high school teachers worked with Ohio's high performance computers -- supercomputers normally reserved for professional scientists and engineers.

OSC Announces SI2005 High School Participants

Columbus , Ohio -- The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) has announced the 15 high school finalists who will embark on its Summer Institute (SI) 2005: Supercomputing to Infinity and Beyond. SI will be held on July 10-22 in Columbus, and is hosted by OSC and partially funded by the Ohio Department of Education.

Offered to Ohio's brightest high school freshmen and sophomores for nearly 20 years, SI gives students the opportunity to work with OSC's most advanced supercomputers on challenging projects.

OSC Announces YWSI 2002 Middle School Participants

Columbus, Ohio -- May 28, 2002 -- OSC (Ohio Supercomputer Center) has announced that 18 of Ohio's middle-school girls have been selected to participate in its Young Women's Summer Institute (YWSI).

YWSI is a week-long program sponsored by OSC for middle-school girls in Ohio. It is designed to promote computer, math, and science skills as well as provide hands-on experiences. YWSI helps girls develop an interest in these subjects by allowing them to work on a practical, interesting scientific problem using the latest computer technology.
