Collaboration Announced To Enable And Promote Linux Cluster Computing
Portland, OR -- November 16, 1999 -- The Portland Group, Inc. (PGI) and OSC (Ohio Supercomputer Center) today announced that OSC has acquired 200 copies of PGI Workstation, PGI's suite of parallel Fortran, C and C++ compilers and tools for Linux workstations. The announcement was made from SC99, the world's largest conference for high performance computing sponsored by ACM SIGARCH and the IEEE Computer Society.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — April 9, 2007 — In preparation for the arrival of a new high performance computing system, the Ohio Supercomputer Center is providing three parallel computing workshops this spring.
The incoming computational system is projected to have 10 times the performance of the largest existing Ohio Supercomputer Center cluster. The IBM e1350 Compute Cluster will have 963 nodes and over 4,000 processor cores, allowing scientists to run their parallelized code on hundreds or thousands of processors.
Columbus, Ohio -- January 14, 1994 -- Software development specialists at the Ohio Supercomputer Center have released Local Area Multiprocessor (LAM) to the parallel processing and cluster computing community. LAM has been ported to several leading UNIX machines such as Sun, SGI, RS/6000, DEC APX and to Cray running UNICOS. The 45th Annual Cray User Group Conference held on May 12-16, 2003 and hosted by the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC), was deemed a success by more than 160 attendees.
CUG2003 was held at the Hyatt on Capitol Square in downtown Columbus.
This year’s theme, “Flight to Insight,” was chosen to honor Ohio’s rich heritage and numerous contributions to the aerospace industry. The conference also highlighted the centennial anniversary of the Wright Brothers’ flight.
