Jobs requesting Lustre are rejected by qsub

On both production clusters, we have begun rejecting jobs that request the use of Lustre or $PFSDIR in order to reduce job failures caused by the triggering of a bug that crashes the filesystem. If you have a GPFS allocation, you may if appropriate want to move your data there in order to maintain productivity while the Lustre service is in a degraded state.

HOWTO: Use ulimit command to set soft limits

This document shows you how to set soft limits using ulimit command.

The ulimit command sets or reports user process resource limits. The default limits are defined and applied when a new user is added to the system. Limits are categorized as either soft or hard. With the ulimit command, you can change your soft limits for the current shell environment, up to the maximum set by the hard limits. You must have root user authority to change resource hard limits.

Upgraded login nodes on Glenn

We have added two login nodes to Glenn (opt-login05 and opt-login06), which are quad-socket computers with 64 GB of RAM. These were previously used as large memory nodes on Glenn, and will provide greater resources to the shared environment on the login nodes.

Compilation Guide

As a general recommendation, we suggest selecting the newest compilers available for a new project. For repeatability, you may not want to change compilers in the middle of an experiment.


Oakley

We recommend the Intel compilers on Oakley.

LS-PrePost

Introduction

LS-PrePost is an advanced pre and post-processor that is delivered free with LS-DYNA. The user interface is designed to be both efficient and intuitive. LS-PrePost runs on Windows, Linux, and Unix utilizing OpenGL graphics to achieve fast rendering and XY plotting. The latest builds can be downloaded from LSTC's FTP Site.
