OAKLEY AND PARTIAL OWENS DOWNTIME MAY 19, 2018

A downtime for Oakley and about 80 Owens compute nodes is scheduled from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018, due to a scheduled power outage at SOCC. Oakley including its login nodes will not be available and Owens will be operating at reduced capacity during this time. The downtime will NOT affect Ruby, most Owens nodes including its login nodes, web portals including ondemand.osc.edu and my.osc.edu, and HPC file servers. More information can be found here: https://bit.ly/2Jprdr9

Beta OSCusage Command

We invite OSC clients to beta-test our new OSCusage command, which offers clients additional capabilities and data on usage. The command is available on all systems at /opt/osc/libexec/OSCusage. Please note this is currently in test mode and, hence, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of all the data it is reporting. Please contact OSC Help if you have any questions or find any issues with this command.

MDCS is no longer available

Date:
Wednesday, March 28, 2018 - 2:45pm

Matlab Distributed Computing Server (MDCS) is no longer available.

The major purpose of this feature was to allow users to use their local licenses that OSC didn't provide.

However, now OSC provides all the toolboxes to all the academic users.

DOWNTIME FOR ALL CLUSTERS MARCH 14

A downtime is scheduled for all HPC systems starting March 14, 2018, beginning at 7:00 A.M. and scheduled to finish by 5 P.M. The downtime will affect the Oakley, Owens, Ruby clusters. Login services and access to storage will not be available during this time. In preparation for the downtime the batch scheduler will begin holding jobs that cannot complete before March 14 at 7:00 A.M.

ROLLING REBOOTS OF ALL CLUSTERS STARTING FEBRUARY 5

We will have rolling reboots of Oakley, Ruby and Owens clusters starting from Monday Feb 5, 2018 to address recent CPU vulnerabilities. Login nodes will be rebooted first. The rolling reboots won't affect any running jobs, but users may experience longer queue wait time than usual on all clusters. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Please contact oschelp@osc.edu if you have any questions.

Changes to Abaqus affecting Python

Date:
Tuesday, December 12, 2017 - 10:15am

Abaqus ships with its own installation of Python which is incompatible with the system Python.  Changes were made to the abaqus module on Oakley putting the Abaqus version of Python in the user's path.  This may cause problems if the user runs non-Abaqus Python programs with the abaqus module loaded.  Oakley only.
