Steve Gordon
Steven I. Gordon, Ph.D. is Senior Director of Education and Client Support for the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC), as well as director of the Center’s Ralph Regula School of Computational Science.
Gordon helped found the Internet2 Testing and Evaluation Center and has led several other OSC initiatives in high performance computing, including Platform Lab and the remote instrumentation project. For the Ralph Regula School, Gordon works with an interdisciplinary, inter-institutional team to create undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs in computational science that will serve all higher education students in Ohio.
Other projects include experiments in disaster recovery for large datasets over the network and the Ohio Digital Commons for Education (ODCE). ODCE provides a shared storage and data management infrastructure pilot for Ohio's higher education institutions.
As a professor at The Ohio State University in city and regional planning, Gordon teaches courses in site planning, geographic information systems, and environmental modeling and undertakes research in watershed modeling and management.
Gordon's research applies models of storm water runoff and water quality to the analysis of watershed management and the applications of communications technology to distance education. He authored two books and a number of refereed publications in this area.
Gordon graduated cum laude from State University of New York at Buffalo with a bachelor’s degree in geography. He earned his master’s and doctorate degrees from Columbia University in geography with a specialization in environmental systems.
