It’s going to be used on a daily basis throughout industry, as well as within universities. The challenge that we face in moving from the desktop to a high performance computing platform. The tool sets are different, the infrastructure is different, it requires the scientist to do a lot of programming, to rethink the problem, to decompose it in such a way that these computers can understand what needs to be done. We want the scientists not to have to worry about the infrastructure; we want them to worry about the science. So how can we do this? Well we can improve the tool sets, or we can apply an application layer above the tool sets. |
