Location:

Ohio Supercomputer Center

8/19/16 9:30AM Update: The systems are still not available. We don’t have an expected return time yet, but are actively working on getting systems back up as soon as we can. We Will update later when we know more

The downtime for all HPC systems is Thursday, August 18, 2016, beginning at 7 a.m and expected to finish by 5 p.m. The downtime will affect the Oakley and Ruby clusters, web portals, and HPC file servers. Login services and access to storage will not be available during this time. We apologize for this interruption of service so soon after the previous one, it is necessary to continue upgrading our systems in preparation for the new cluster.

In order to quiesce the system for an orderly shutdown the batch scheduler will begin holding jobs that cannot complete before 7 a.m. August 18th.  Jobs that are not started will be held until after the downtime and then started once the system is returned to production status.

Highlights of the downtime activities:

  • File system check on Scratch
  • Configuration changes to fix periodic outages on GPFS
