2003 Summer Institute for Advanced Computation Focuses on Homeland Security Computing

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Sep 8, 2003) — 

The Fifth Annual Summer Institute for Advanced Computation, sponsored by the Information Technology Research Institute and the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC), will be held at Wright State University on August 27-29, 2003. This year's topic is Homeland Security Computing.

“This program has hit the mark year in and year out,” said Leslie Southern, OSC HPC Director. “Program coordinators survey the state and national community to identify relevant topics. For this fifth year, the conference will focus on homeland security issues. Germane subjects are sure to foster ideas and information exchange among the participants and highly knowledgeable presenters.”

The event will feature several speakers from various universities including Wright State University, The Ohio State University, the University of Cincinnati, Purdue University, Texas A&M University, and the University of Notre Dame. Speakers from EON Reality, OSC, Air Force Research Laboratory, and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base are also featured on the agenda.

Topics to be discussed include security vs. privacy, visualization tools for homeland security, database security, supercomputing and homeland security, as well as other information relating to homeland security computing.
