OSC Co-Sponsors Russian Symposium

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Aug 29, 2002) —

OSC, along with several other organizations, is co-sponsoring a four-day conference in Russia on microelectronics. A symposium will be held on September 10-13 in Moscow on "Nano and Giga Challenges in Microelectronics Research and Opportunities in Russia."

Russia's closer alliance with the West in the war against terrorism coincides with increased interest to collaborate on research and development in microelectronics. The conference is expected to draw some 500 researchers from around the globe and will be co-sponsored by a major American semiconductor company for the first time.

In addition to OSC, other conference sponsors include Motorola Inc.'s Semiconductor Products Sector, as well as such diverse organizations as the European Office of Aerospace Research & Development (a detachment of the U.S. Air Force Office of Scientific Research), and numerous Russian academic institutions and research firms.
