OSU/OSC Announces Summer Institute 2000: Adventures in Computing and Networking

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Jul 6, 2000) —

OSC (Ohio Supercomputer Center) and The Ohio State University (OSU) will present SI00:Adventures in Computing and Networking on July 17-28, 2000.

Academically outstanding students who attend this two-week residential program at OSC will be immersed in today's technologies that are shaping tomorrow's world. OSC involves a faculty of experts in the fields of high performance networking, computing, and related fields to teach the students the knowledge necessary to use high performance computing and networking systems. This includes hands-on training in programming and visualization, as well as lectures on related topics including technology policy and advanced networking. The heart of the program, however, is the team projects. Students apply what they learn in classes and lectures to solve complex problems in groups using OSC's high performance computers. They formally present their results at the end of this intensive program.
