We've been having intermittent issues with connecting to the batch server hosts on Owens. You will see the error like
Unable to communicate with owens-batch.ten.osc.edu(10.20.0.22) Communication failure. Error in connection to trqauthd (15137)-[could not connect to unix socket /tmp/trqauthd-unix: 111]
