PBS commands on Owens are not working

Update posted on July 12, 2017 at 1:50PM:

We have fixed the problem with the batch management system on Owens and queues on Owens have been opened again for jobs.

The cause of this problem is that one Owens job had a dependency of itself, resulting in deadlocks when batch manager evaluated the job’s dependencies. We’ve patched batch servers on all systems to keep this from happening again.

All PBS commands on Owens have not been working since Monday night, July 10, 2017. Since Monday night, users have been experiencing issues on Owens including but not limited to:

  • Could not submit jobs to Owens using qsub command
  • Could not check job status on Owens using qstat command
  • Queued jobs on Owens have not been started

Running jobs should not be affected. We are actively working on this issue, and will update the community as more is known.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Please contact oschelp@osc.edu if you have any questions.
