Patricia Carey, a senior systems developer and engineer at The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC), has received a grant to fund her travel to SC13, the annual conference of the international supercomputing community, and her participation in the conference’s weeklong technical program.
The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) hosted the first meeting of the MVAPICH Users Group, a broad array of users, system administrators, researchers, engineers and students who share an interest in the MVAPICH open-source library of communications standards used internally by many high performance computing (HPC) systems.

Columbus, Ohio (Nov. 30, 2012) – Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Jim Petro recently appointed Pankaj Shah as executive director of the Ohio Supercomputer Center.
Shah concurrently serves as the executive director of the Ohio Academic Resources Network (OARnet), a role he’s held since 2005. By leading both technology organizations in their independent missions, Shah will seek closer collaboration between the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) and OARnet, creating new opportunities from their combined efforts.
Group honors OSC for role with national digital manufacturing initiative
Juniper Networks, a network equipment company, recently honored Paul Schopis as a “Master of IT” for building one of the first dark fiber academic and research networks in the nation.
Schopis serves as the associate director of OSCnet, a statewide communications network managed by the Ohio Supercomputer Center. OSCnet is the nation’s most advanced dedicated high-speed fiber-optic network for education, research and economic development.

The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC)announced today that Pankaj Shah has been chosen as its new OARnet Director. Shah will officially assume the directorship on March 7, 2005.
"We are very excited that we will have a person of Pankaj Shah's stature and talent on our team," said Stan Ahalt, OSC Executive Director. "Pankaj has the skills, background, and organizational capabilities that are exactly what we need for OARnet's future."

Platform Lab received and installed an important contribution from Sun Microsystems, Inc. as the lab opened its doors for operation. The contribution includes four enterprise-level Sun 220R dual processor systems, each with two gigabytes of memory, a pair of Sun Netra web application servers, and significant disk storage capacity. These systems provide mid-range enterprise-level computing capacity and are available to users of the new facility. The estimated value of the contribution is in excess of $100,000. |
