System Downtime March 31, 2021

A downtime for all OSC HPC systems is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2021. The downtime will affect the Pitzer and Owens Clusters, web portals, state-wide licenses, and HPC file servers. Login services will not be available during this time, including MyOSC. In preparation for the downtime, the batch scheduler will begin holding jobs that cannot be completed before 7 a.m., March 31, 2021. Jobs that are not started on clusters will be held until after the downtime and then started once the system is returned to production status.

Starccm outage Feb 21, 2021

The Starccm software license at OSC will expire on Sunday Feb 21, 2021 at 12 am, making the starccm software unavailable until the license is renewed. OSC is actively working on getting the license renewed as soon as possible. If you have a currently running job that is using starccm, please contact oschelp@osc.edu with the job id so that we can provide a refund if the job has errors or is killed when the license expires. It is unknown whether this will affect current jobs using starccm software. Please contact oschelp@osc.edu for questions.

Rolling reboots of Owens cluster, starting from Feb 18, 2021

We will have rolling reboots of Owens cluster including login and compute nodes, starting from 9AM Feb 18, 2021. The rolling reboot is to update BIOS for urgent security updates. The rolling reboots won't affect any running jobs, but users may experience longer queue wait time than usual on the cluster. User will also expect about a 10 minute outage of login nodes during the reboot of login nodes.
