The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) is pleased to announce an introductory Performance Tuning workshop to be held on July 27, 2017 at 1pm in BALE Theatre at OSC.
This workshop will present techniques for improving the performance of scientific software on High Performance Computing (HPC) systems such as those available at OSC. The focus will be on serial performance, including vectorization and cache utilization, with a brief mention of parallel computing.
Topics will include:
- Overview of HPC architectures
- Performance measurement and analysis tools
- Help from the compiler
- Single-processor performance tuning
- Parallel computing
To participate in the hands-on exercises, participants are required to bring their own laptops. OSC workshop accounts will be provided.
We are also going to broadcast this event live to the University of Cincinnati, Baldwin 850D.
Who Should Attend
Current or prospective OSC users who are involved in the development of software for scientific computing.
Prerequisites
Some familiarity with Linux/UNIX and either Fortran 90 or C/C++ is preferred.
Method of Delivery
Slide presentation and hands-on exercises.
