License Server Reboot 9AM Tuesday May 29

A reboot of the license server is scheduled from 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 29. It is expected to take 10 minutes to complete this reboot. During the reboot, we will pause the scheduling so no new job will be scheduled on all three clusters (Oakley, Ruby, and Owens). It won't impact most of the running jobs, but running jobs using special software packages may fail due to license error. For more information, see this link: https://bit.ly/2krk52Y

LAMMPS 16Mar18 is now available

LAMMPS stable version 16Mar18 has been installed on Owens, Ruby, and Oakley.  These are GPU enabled installations.  16Mar18 is available with both MVAPICH2 and IntelMPI on all three clusters and on Owens also with OpenMPI.  Usage is via the module lammps/16Mar18.  For information on installation details, such as, available packages, see the output of the module help command:  "module help lammp

OAKLEY AND PARTIAL OWENS DOWNTIME MAY 19, 2018

A downtime for Oakley and about 80 Owens compute nodes is scheduled from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018, due to a scheduled power outage at SOCC. Oakley including its login nodes will not be available and Owens will be operating at reduced capacity during this time. The downtime will NOT affect Ruby, most Owens nodes including its login nodes, web portals including ondemand.osc.edu and my.osc.edu, and HPC file servers. Beta OSCusage Command

We invite OSC clients to beta-test our new OSCusage command, which offers clients additional capabilities and data on usage. The command is available on all systems at /opt/osc/libexec/OSCusage. Please note this is currently in test mode and, hence, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of all the data it is reporting. Please contact OSC Help if you have any questions or find any issues with this command.

ROLLING REBOOTS OF OWENS CLUSTERS STARTING APRIL 16

We will have a rolling reboot of login and compute nodes of Owens cluster starting from Monday, April 16, 2018, to update its OS from RHEL 7.3 to 7.4. This rolling reboot won't affect any running jobs, but users may experience longer queue wait time than usual on the Owens cluster. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
