OSC
Since 1987, OSC has been providing our clients services in four areas, or functions:
Supercomputing. OSC provides the computational power and storage that scientists need to meet their research goals. Whether researchers need to harness the incredible power of a parallel processor cluster to better understand deep space, a vector processor machine to do weather modeling, or a mid-size shared memory processor system to model the human heart, OSC has the hardware and software solutions to meet their needs.
Research. A staff of high performance computing and networking research experts maintain active research programs in HPC and Networking, Homeland Security and Defense, Environmental Sciences, Engineering and Life Sciences. Our goals are to lead science and engineering research efforts, assist researchers with custom needs and collaborate with regional, national and international researchers in groundbreaking initiatives.
Education. OSC has a national reputation for its training and education programs. Staff teach faculty and student researchers through scientific computing workshops, one-on-one classes, and web-based portal training. Ohio students gain exposure to the world of high performance computing and networking during our annual summer institutes for young women in middle school and for junior and senior high school students. And, the statewide, virtual Ralph Regula School of Computational Science coordinates computational science and engineering education activities for all levels of learning.
Cyberinfrastructure. The Ohio Supercomputer Center’s cyberinfrastructure and software development researchers provide the user community with various high performance computing software options. This variety enables researchers to select parallel computing languages they most prefer, and just as important, it creates a test bed for exploring these systems. By taking a holistic approach to generating efficient supercomputing applications for researchers, the Center’s cyberinfrastructure and software development research capitalizes on all the components within the cycle of innovation — development, experimentation, and analysis - and continuously improves the services provided.

Ohio private, liberal arts colleges offer courses in parallel computing
Capital University in Columbus and Ohio Northern University in Ada are often recognized for their programs in music, law or a traditional arts program, and...computer science? Now they are. Both universities now offer courses in parallel computing to undergraduates. These types of classes are usually offered only at major research universities.
Scientific's Linda¨ and Paradise¨ Now Available for Platform Lab Clients
Scientific Computing Associates (SCIENTIFIC), experts in parallel and distributed computing with more than 21 years of experience, today announced that SCIENTIFIC's Linda® and Paradise®, a unique programming tool suite, is now available for use at Platform Lab. Platform Lab is a joint project of OSC (Ohio Supercomputer Center) and the Business Technology Center.
Virtual Product Development Using Finite Element Analysis
Intergraph Corporation will present a Virtual Product Development Using Finite Element Analysis workshop on May 24, 1994, at the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC), 1224 Kinnear Road, Columbus, Ohio. This presentation emphasizes the role of analysis in the design of a new product. It elaborates on the work flow during the evolution of design from "art to part" utilizing latest CAD-CAM Concurrent Engineering technology.
The Ohio Project
The Ohio Project is an effort to raise awareness of the power of computational problem solving by reaching out to potential industrial users of high performance computing (HPC) and networking or computational science methods. It has two goals:
PolymerOhio, Ohio Supercomputer Center Partnership Provides High Performance Computing, Economic Benefits
The Ohio Supercomputer Center and PolymerOhio announced today a partnership that will make Ohio’s polymer companies more productive and profitable through high performance computing applications.
Online "Intermediate MPI""" Course Being Released for Public Use"
For the first time, an online "Intermediate MPI" course is being released for public use. OSC and the Partners for Advanced Computational Services (PACS) created the course to be offered on the National Computational Science Alliance (NCSA) server after a series of successful introductory MPI courses.

Voinovich-Ryan Legislation Boosts Manufacturing Competitiveness Through Supercomputing
The U.S. manufacturing sector received a boost as it transitions to a globally competitive marketplace under a new Senate bill introduced today. The legislation will take the same supercomputing systems and applications used almost exclusively by Fortune 500 companies and make them scalable, accessible and affordable to small and medium-sized companies.
