Pankaj Shah Selected to Lead OARnet, OSC's Networking Division

The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC)announced today that Pankaj Shah has been chosen as its new OARnet Director. Shah will officially assume the directorship on March 7, 2005.

"We are very excited that we will have a person of Pankaj Shah's stature and talent on our team," said Stan Ahalt, OSC Executive Director. "Pankaj has the skills, background, and organizational capabilities that are exactly what we need for OARnet's future."

New OSC Advisory Council Formed

A new Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) advisory council has been formed to provide direct input into OSC and OSC Networking operations.

The new advisory group consists of state intra-university council (IUC) Chief Information Officers (CIO). The OSC Information and Research Officers Advisory Council will actively participate in long-range strategic planning, give technology leadership and management advice, and have the authority to establish subcommittees for specific tasks.

Supercomputer Users Group Elects Leadership

The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) announced the election of new officers for its Statewide Users Group (SUG).

At its October 2004 meeting, OSC’s SUG elected Dr. Austin Melton, of Kent State University (KSU), to the position of Chair and Robert Marcus, of Central State University, to the Vice-Chair position. Dr. Christopher Hadad, from The Ohio State University (OSU) Chemistry Department was appointed Chair of the SUG Allocations Committee.

Taft Names Three To Serve on Ohio Board of Regents

On October 7, three new Regents will be sworn in at the Ohio Board of Regents' monthly meeting at Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus. The Ohio Board of Regents is an 11-member public board created in 1963 by the General Assembly to provide higher education policy advice to the Governor and General Assembly.

The OBOR also helps develop strategy involving Ohio's public and independent colleges and universities, advocates for and manages state funds, and coordinates and implements state higher education policies. OSC is a technology initiative of the Ohio Board of Regents.
