Alliance PACS Establish Repository

The Partners for Advanced Computational Services (PACS) User Services and Training committee, chaired by Frank Gilfeather of the University of New Mexico/Maui High Performance Computing Center, established top-level categories and identified the necessary tracking information for the Alliance training module repository during its December 1997 meeting at the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC).

The repository will provide a common location for researchers to find current training materials in a timely and efficient manner. NCSA will build the database, forms, and scripts.

Ohio Supercomputer Center Training Courses Contribute to Efforts to Strengthen National Security

The Ohio Supercomputer Center’s (OSC) internationally-recognized training expertise will now be used to help reduce vulnerability in our nation’s information system.

Recently, The Ohio State University (OSU) was designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education (CAEIAE) by the National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As part of OSU’s designation, OSC will provide NSA-certified training and participate as a member of OSU’s Consortium for IAE.

Ohio Supercomputer Center Hosts AliRoot Workshop

The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) is hosting a two-day workshop on "Using ROOT's Virtual Monte Carlo to Simulate the Response Of A Large Ion Collider Experiment Detector System" and "Using Grid Technology, AliEn, to Access and Analyze Large Data Sets." The workshops will be held on May 25 and 26, respectively, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in OSC’s BALE theater and broadcast over the VRVS/Access Grid.

Professors Enhance Curriculum, Student Workforce Readiness During SC07/Ohio Supercomputer Center Summer Program

Academia and businesses increasingly are using computational science to improve discovery methods and results. That’s why, to better prepare their students, 19 professors from the throughout the United States and Puerto Rico are attending a weeklong workshop at the Ohio Supercomputer Center that will teach them how to integrate the discipline into their undergraduate curriculums.

Ohio Supercomputer Center Offers MPI Workshop at Miami University

If you have research projects requiring large amounts of memory and/or CPU power, this upcoming workshop at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, is for you.

Held on May 17 and 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the “Parallel Programming with MPI” workshop will teach you how to leverage multiple processors to advance your science. This course, sponsored by Miami University and the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC), is geared toward those with C or Fortran programming language experience. It will be held in the University’s Gaskill Hall, room 201.

Ohio Teachers Switch Seats With Their Students During Ohio Supercomputer Center Institute

Most of us can remember a time in school when we wished our teachers could walk in our shoes for just one day. The students of 10 Ohio high school and middle school teachers will receive satisfaction in knowing that their teachers are doing just that this summer.

Teachers from across Ohio are trading places with their students this week during the Computational Science Institute (CSI) at the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC). CSI hopes to open teachers' minds to new technologies that will expand the learning environment they create for their students.
