Ohio Supercomputer Center Hosts AliRoot Workshop

The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) is hosting a two-day workshop on "Using ROOT's Virtual Monte Carlo to Simulate the Response Of A Large Ion Collider Experiment Detector System" and "Using Grid Technology, AliEn, to Access and Analyze Large Data Sets." The workshops will be held on May 25 and 26, respectively, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in OSC’s BALE theater and broadcast over the VRVS/Access Grid.

OSC To Present Overview Workshop at Wittenberg University

On January 27, the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) will present a workshop at Wittenberg University entitled, “High Performance Computing at OSC: An Overview.”

The lecture will be held in the BDK Science Center’s Bailey Auditorium from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. There is no charge to attend, and members from the community, area businesses, and higher education institutions are invited to participate.

Alliance PACS Establish Repository

The Partners for Advanced Computational Services (PACS) User Services and Training committee, chaired by Frank Gilfeather of the University of New Mexico/Maui High Performance Computing Center, established top-level categories and identified the necessary tracking information for the Alliance training module repository during its December 1997 meeting at the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC).

The repository will provide a common location for researchers to find current training materials in a timely and efficient manner. NCSA will build the database, forms, and scripts.

Professors Enhance Curriculum, Student Workforce Readiness During SC07/Ohio Supercomputer Center Summer Program

 

Academia and businesses increasingly are using computational science to improve discovery methods and results. That’s why, to better prepare their students, 19 professors from the throughout the United States and Puerto Rico are attending a weeklong workshop at the Ohio Supercomputer Center that will teach them how to integrate the discipline into their undergraduate curriculums.

Ohio Supercomputer Center Offers MPI Workshop at Miami University

If you have research projects requiring large amounts of memory and/or CPU power, this upcoming workshop at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, is for you.

Held on May 17 and 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the “Parallel Programming with MPI” workshop will teach you how to leverage multiple processors to advance your science. This course, sponsored by Miami University and the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC), is geared toward those with C or Fortran programming language experience. It will be held in the University’s Gaskill Hall, room 201.
