The First Annual OSC Graduate Student Workshop/Conference!

The High Performance Computing (HPC) division of OSC is sponsoring a Graduate Student Conference/Workshop at OSC on August 11 and 12, 2000. The purpose of the Conference/Workshop is to introduce graduate students from around the state to the resources and capabilities of OSC, as well as to exchange information about research projects being undertaken by other graduate students in Ohio. About 25 attendees from around Ohio will be selected by application. The selected students will be expected to attend both days of the Workshop/Conference.

Ralph Regula School of Computational Science planning committee to hold meeting July 28

Among the issues the committee plans to discuss are: a description of the approved competencies for the undergraduate minor in computational science; draft documents for the policy advisory committee discussing shared curricula; a draft of the governing board and advisory committee structure; updates on school projects; and National Science Foundation reviewer comments on an ATE proposal.

U.S. Educators Travel to Vietnam

Columbus, OH -- July 28, 1995 - Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the Midwest Universities Consortium for International Activities (MUCIA) announce their upcoming seminar entitled "U.S. Education Into the Twenty-First Century." This joint program, to be presented at Hanoi's West Lake Village on July 31 and August 1, features three prominent speakers from leading universities in the United States and senior level MOET officials.

Doctors deliver high-tech training to Central America

Two surgeons from Central Ohio recently traveled to Nicaragua on a humanitarian mission to treat children with serious ear, nose and throat conditions. However, this year they brought along some help in the form of high-tech equipment designed to appeal to a generation that grew up playing video games – not to entertain the children, but to train the local doctors and medical students.

$1 million grant to OSC and partners to provide business with workforce training and supercomputing portals

The National Science Foundation last week designated nearly $1 million to provide Ohio’s workforce with crucial training in computational modeling and simulation. The grant also supplies Ohio’s businesses with advanced Internet portals that will offer cyberinfrastructure resources companies need to compete in the global marketplace.

Ohio Supercomputer Center Hosts ALTAIR Software Workshop

Learn the latest about some of the most robust engineering software packages available at the Ohio Supercomputer Center's (OSC) workshop, Using Altair HyperMesh and Hyperview.

This three day session will be held on October 16 – 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m, in OSC’s BALE theater at no charge. Geared toward engineers, the workshop will cover Altair HyperWorks’ high performance, comprehensive toolbox of CAE software for engineering design and simulation.  Attendees should have a basic knowledge of finite element analysis.
