OSC to Host CUG 2003 in May

OSC is excited to host the 45th Cray User Group Conference (CUG 2003) on May 12-16, at the Hyatt on Capital Square. CUG 2003 will allow Cray users from all over the world to exchange problem-solving information and enjoy professional interactions with fellow Cray users.

This year's conference is unique because it will showcase the highly anticipated Cray X1 System. "Flight to Insight," the CUG 2003 theme, was chosen to honor Ohio's rich heritage and multiple contributions to the aerospace industry and world of technological insight and innovation.

The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) announces that it has installed a powerful new computer -- an IBM RISC System/6000* Scalable POWERparallel Systems * SP2. As a valuable supercomputing resource for universities and businesses across Ohio, OSC's goal is to provide its users with the best computing technology available. The IBM parallel computer joins an already impressive array of high-performance parallel and vector/parallel computing platforms available at the Center.

OSC Acquires 200 Seats of Linux Fortran, C and C++ Compilers and Tools from the Portland Group (PGI)

 

 The Portland Group, Inc. (PGI) and OSC (Ohio Supercomputer Center) today announced that OSC has acquired 200 copies of PGI Workstation, PGI's suite of parallel Fortran, C and C++ compilers and tools for Linux workstations. The announcement was made from SC99, the world's largest conference for high performance computing sponsored by ACM SIGARCH and the IEEE Computer Society.

Ohio Supercomputer Center Selects IBM To Provide New High Performance Computing Solution

The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) announced today the upgrade of its high performance computing (HPC) capacity with the acquisition of the IBM Cluster 1350.   This new system is projected to be one of the top 50 supercomputers in the world, making OSC among the top 10 academic supercomputing centers.

OSC Showcases Initiatives at International Supercomputing Conference

The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) will showcase its Blue Collar Computing and Third Frontier Network (TFN) initiatives by highlighting these projects and more at Supercomputing 2005 (SC|05). A week-long international supercomputing conference, SC|05 is the world's leading event for high performance computing and research, and is a hotbed of collaboration opportunities. The conference will be held at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle, Washington, on November 12-18.
