Cray Inc. customers can now pick the brains of OSC (Ohio Supercomputer Center) high performance computing experts and make use of their vast experience. As part of an ongoing contract, OSC is offering training facilities to Cray's customer base, further strengthening its extremely successful relationship with the supercomputer leader.
Alliance PACS Establish Repository
The Partners for Advanced Computational Services (PACS) User Services and Training committee, chaired by Frank Gilfeather of the University of New Mexico/Maui High Performance Computing Center, established top-level categories and identified the necessary tracking information for the Alliance training module repository during its December 1997 meeting at the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC).
The repository will provide a common location for researchers to find current training materials in a timely and efficient manner. NCSA will build the database, forms, and scripts.
Cornell Theory Center, Department of Defense MSRCs Introduce Virtual Workshop
The Cornell Theory Center (CTC) and the Department of Defense's Major Shared Resource Centers (MSRCs) have announced the launching of a Virtual Workshop to provide DoD-sponsored scientists and engineers with self-paced, on-line training in parallel computing.
Innovative computational science minor program expanded to students at 11 colleges, universities
Beginning this fall, students at two additional colleges in Ohio will have the unique opportunity to enhance the market value of their bachelor’s degrees by earning a minor in computational science.
Ohio Supercomputer Center Training Courses Contribute to Efforts to Strengthen National Security

Recently, The Ohio State University (OSU) was designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education (CAEIAE) by the National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Ohio Supercomputer Center Offers MPI Workshop at Miami University
If you have research projects requiring large amounts of memory and/or CPU power, this upcoming workshop at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, is for you.
Held on May 17 and 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the “Parallel Programming with MPI” workshop will teach you how to leverage multiple processors to advance your science. This course, sponsored by Miami University and the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC), is geared toward those with C or Fortran programming language experience. It will be held in the University’s Gaskill Hall, room 201.

OSC Offers Large Array of Computer Workshops
OSC's nationally-renowned workshops offer a great variety of courses for both beginner and advanced computer users this autumn.
At no cost, OSC regularly provides workshops about new computing techniques and hardware and software resources. Remote workshops are also held through OSC's Access Grid node, an advanced audio-visual communications tool that transmits over Internet2.
