Global Open OnDemand community gathers in Salt Lake City to advance collaboration and expand access to high performance computing

The Global Open OnDemand (GOOD) Conference returned for its second year, March 9–12, 2026, welcoming 88 attendees from nine countries to Salt Lake City, Utah. The event brought together developers, system administrators, researchers, and institutional leaders committed to making high performance computing (HPC) easier to use. 

OSC strengthens global connections through major research computing conferences in 2025

In 2025, the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) demonstrated leadership in an era where artificial intelligence (AI), data-intensive research, and advanced cyberinfrastructure continued to shape priorities across higher education, government, and industry. Throughout the year, OSC staff engaged with national and international communities to share best practices, demonstrate new capabilities, and contribute to conversations defining the future of high performance computing (HPC). 

Inaugural GOOD conference draws strong attendance from 10 countries

The Global Open OnDemand (GOOD) conference attracted 170 attendees from 10 countries during its inaugural event March 17-20, 2025, at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. More than 50 high performance computing (HPC) professionals, developers and researchers gave talks about how they have used and adapted the Ohio Supercomputer Center’s (OSC) Open OnDemand web portal to advance research computing at their institutions.  

Ohio University students collaborate with OSC on design for Cardinal cluster endcap

On a rainy Friday last October, 14 Ohio University Digital Art and Technology students arrived at the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) in Columbus, eager to take on a one-of-a-kind challenge. Their task: design the endcap for OSC’s newest high performance computing (HPC) cluster, Cardinal, using the cluster’s own advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
