Educators share success at transforming a summer STEM program
For more than 20 years, the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) has been sponsoring the Young Women’s Summer Institute (YWSI) to engage Ohio’s middle school students in STEM education topics. Although the Center had planned to offer the week-long event in person in 2021, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic prompted a pivot to an online format.
OSC to provide HPC and storage for ICICLE NSF AI institute
The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) will serve as a core collaborator in the new NSF AI Institute for Intelligent Cyberinfrastructure with Computational Learning in the Environment (ICICLE), one of 11 such Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Institutes created as part of a $200 million grant announced today by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
Virtual Fall SUG Conference Brings Academics Using OSC Together
The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) hosted the Statewide Users Group (SUG) conference virtually on Thursday, adapting the biannual conference to an online environment after the spring edition of the event was cancelled due to the coronavirus. The Zoom gathering consisted of committee meetings, a keynote address, updates from OSC and breakout meetings.
Fall SUG conference gathers researchers to the Ohio Supercomputer Center

These findings are propelled by Ohio universities’ access to high performance computing (HPC) through the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC). Many of the state’s researchers gathered at OSC for the biannual Statewide Users Group (SUG) conference on Thursday to share their current research and innovations that have used HPC.

Exciting innovations and new research frontiers are breaking through every day in Ohio, and attendees of the fall Statewide Users Group Conference at the Ohio Supercomputer Center on Thursday got a preview of some innovations to come.
SUG is a volunteer group composed of the Ohio university faculty who provide OSC’s leadership with program and policy advice and direction to ensure a productive environment for research.
Ohio Supercomputer Center staff attending PEARC18 conference
Several Ohio Supercomputer Center staff members will be attending the PEARC18 conference, being held this week (July 22-27) in Pittsburgh, Pa. PEARC (Practice & Experience in Advanced Research Computing) is an outgrowth of the Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) initiative of the National Science Foundation.
