On September 22nd, OSC switched to Slurm for job scheduling and resource management on the Pitzer Cluster, along with the deployment of the new Pitzer hardware. We are in the process of updating the example job scripts for each software. If a Slurm example is not yet available, please consult our general Slurm information page or contact OSC help.


FFmpeg is a free software project, the product of which is a vast software suite of libraries and programs for handling video, audio, and other multimedia files and streams.

Availability and Restrictions


The following versions of FFmpeg are available on OSC clusters:

You can use  module spider ffmpeg to view available modules for a given machine. The static version is built by John Van Sickle, providing full FFmpeg features.  The non-static version is built on OSC systems and is useful for code development.  Feel free to contact OSC Help if you need other versions for your work.

Access for Academic Users

FFmpeg is available to all OSC users.

Usage on Owens


To configure your environment for use of FFmpeg, run the following command:  module load ffmpeg. The default version will be loaded.
